We recently signed the Cyber Resilience Pledge as an early adopter, which puts us among the first organisations in the UK to do so. On 7th July 2026, Keith Bucknall, our Chief Information Technology Officer (CITO), was invited to 10 Downing Street for the launch event. Here’s what the commitment means and why it matters for the businesses we protect.
Today, we can share that Outbound Group has signed the government’s Cyber Resilience Pledge. It’s a voluntary commitment developed by the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT) and backed by the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), bringing government and industry together to strengthen cyber security across the UK economy.
Being one of the first organisations to sign it is a statement of intent we are proud to make.
Cyber Security Minister Liz Lloyd said:
“As one of the first to sign the Cyber Resilience Pledge, Outbound Group is sending a clear message to their customers, investors and supply chains that cyber resilience is a core part of how they do business.
“The cyber threat facing the UK is serious, growing, and evolving fast because of AI. These first signatories are showing how the whole country needs to respond by taking practical and achievable steps to bolster their cyber defences and secure everyone’s growth and prosperity.”
Why This Is Critical Now
Hostile cyber activity in the UK is growing more intense, more frequent and more sophisticated, and the rapid development of AI is making the threat sharper still. Protecting a business is no longer solely an IT concern. It is a matter of continuity, trust and leadership.
Strengthening the nation’s resilience is a shared responsibility and one that calls for collective action from both government and industry. We believe organisations like ours should lead by example, and we encourage our peers to join us in helping drive collective cyber resilience across the UK.
What We Are Committing To
By signing the Pledge, we are committing to three practical actions, each backed by the NCSC:
- Making cyber a board-level responsibility: Following the government’s Cyber Governance Code of Practice, this keeps security where it belongs: as a strategic priority owned at the top.
- Signing up to the NCSC’s Early Warning service: This helps us make sure suspicious activity on our network is flagged early and acted on quickly.
- Taking a risk-based approach to requiring Cyber Essentials across our supply chain: This makes sure the risk that can reach our clients through third parties is actively managed.
These are not just box-ticking exercises, and the evidence bears that out. Organisations with Cyber Essentials are 92% less likely to claim on their cyber insurance than those without it, while organisations that require it of their suppliers see up to an 80% reduction in cyber incidents across those third parties. Together, and backed by the NCSC, these actions have an immediate positive impact on our resilience, including our ability to withstand the AI-driven threats that are becoming more capable and harder to spot.
What This Means for Our Clients and Partners
For the businesses we work with, this comes down to confidence. Signing the Pledge reflects our commitment to how you can trust us with your information and your services, and it shows that protecting you is a priority.
It is also proof that we are serious about continually improving our own cyber resilience and following recognised best practice. Cyber security is an increasingly important part of what Outbound Group does, and we believe this commitment will strengthen the relationships we already have while helping us build new ones. It gives clients and partners the assurance that we are taking the right steps to manage cyber risk as a trusted and responsible partner.

Strengthening the UK’s cyber resilience is a shared effort, and we would encourage our partners and supply chain to take the same practical steps. If you are considering the Pledge yourself, we’re happy to share what we have learned.
We’re listed among the signatories on the government’s official website, and you can read more about the Pledge on GOV.UK.
